Coach Pop should pass the reigns to someone else, age is catching up to him. He can be affiliated with the Spurs forever, but with his medical condition, it's time for him to retire as a coach

Maybe you're right. Maybe he should pass it over. But, I can't imagine the NBA without pops. Once upon a time, the Warriors were 36 and 46 and the Spurs were 61 and 11. There was really one team to see and that would be the Spurs.

I honestly think this year might be the year he finally calls it quits. He should prioritize himself first. Maybe he goes until 2027 to do 30 years with the Spurs and move on. Maybe he wants to win one final championship. But, there's only one thing I want to see: Curry playing under the Popovich system. We're probably not gonna see that though.

Do you think he's still performing at a high level? It's weird to say that for a coach, but there are a lot of aspects to the coaching game.

Popovich is still a good coach. With one of the youngest rosters in the NBA without much talent, he is doing respectably decent. Wembanyama is their cornerstone piece and I feel like the Spurs are perfectly situated to become a dominant team in the coming seasons. With this perhaps being Popovich's last season as a coach, he is trying to set the foundation for the new head coach to take over and build upon.

Curry will stay a Warrior till the day he retires. I hope the Spurs front office can draft well and take the next step with Wembanyama when he recovers. But overall, Popovich should prioritize his health first. Like I said, he will be affiliated with the Spurs for life but it's extremely hard to coach at an old age. I will miss him in the NBA but it has to be done.

💯. I agreed with you now, but I still have mixed feelings about what a new spurs coach would do. I don't think he would be that good when running the team, especially the first year. The spurs are making a lot of great progress, so getting a new coach right now could stunt the progression of this team.

They're gonna have to if Popovich keeps dealing with personal issues like this. And given how well the front office is doing, I think they will hit the head coach hire. Plus, Wembanyama has not hit his prime yet, so 1-2 more mediocre years will be fine if it means dominance in the next 8-9.
