Edition #44
Intro
We are now 6 editions away from big ol #50 which means I gotta do something special right? Yes, I have found something special for you guys not just today, but for our edition #50 as well. Are you ready for it? Well, without further ado, let’s get started with this one, but edition 50 is coming soon.
WE GOT RECORD BREAKERS TODAY! It’s our last story in the edition!
What do our readers think of Brock Purdy?
I got one reader to tell us what he thinks about Brock Purdy. He is a 49ers fan, but tried not to be biased for us today!
Here are a few questions.
Me: Is Brock Purdy good?
Guest: Yes
Me: Why do you think Brock Purdy is good?
So basically, here are 3 reasons why I say this.
He has great to medium speed, which is very useful for a QB. Now, obviously, every QB needs to have good speed, but no one needs to be Lamar Jackson. I’m not going to say Brock Purdy is Lamar Jackson, but at least he isn’t Tom Brady or Ryan Tannehill. See this.
He has a good arm. He might not make the deepest throws, but he can make hard ones. Just look at this if you don’t believe me.
Great leader. He really is. Without this leadership, well, they’ll fall apart just like the eagles. See this image.
Divisional Round Scores
Here are the divisional round scores and analysis.
Yes. The Chiefs won. I very much expected it people. Patrick Mahomes is just different in the postseason, that’s why they made 6 straight AFC Championships…
The Ravens were, SHOCKER, not my pick. I had the Texans winning after their wonderful performance against the Browns. But, um, I was a bit, uh, too much wrong.
The 49ers did not win. They survived. Jordan Love was trying to do the Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady game-winning drive stuff, but he did what Aaron Rodgers would do. Throw the game away.
Bucs vs Lions was a game where no one expected the Bucs to advance. I hope the Lions win the SB. Not from an Eagles fan's POV, but from a football fan's POV. Why? I’ll explain on Friday as we have a feature story on the Lions.
Surprising Trades in the NBA that COULD happen!
NBA Trade season is about to arrive. I mean, it kinda already has. Here are five surprising trades in the NBA that could very much happen.
Mikal Bridges to the Trail Blazers
What do I think? Impossible, but it could happen. The Nets are kind of in need of draft picks, and the Blazers have that. The Blazers could get a star player out of this as well, so…
Jonathan Kuminga = Out of here
I hate this… As a Warriors fan. Just a few years back, JK was our future Draymond Green. Now, he could be gone? Yes, he very well is gone. Currently, the Warriors are on a SELL FAST mode. Klay Thompson hasn't been the same since losing consecutive seasons to injuries, and won't be again. Draymond Green has become completely unreliable. Andrew Wiggins looks lost on both ends. No one is going to want these guys.
Bulls do nothing… Take that Bulls fans!!!
Don’t boo Jerry Krause’s widow. As simple as that.
Lakers DeMar Derozan. Say Bye to D’Angelo Russell and draft picks.
Self-explanatory.
Magic go for Anfernee Simmons
The Magic have more draft picks, more young players that are developing, etc. Why won’t they get more young players?
Tara VanDerveer has MOST WINS FOR COLLEGE BASKETBALL!!!!
On Sunday, Tara VanDerveer became the winningest coach in college basketball history when her Stanford Cardinals topped visiting Oregon State, 65-56.
VanDerveer, 70, in her 38th season at Stanford, now has a career mark of 1,203-267.
As she was speaking to the media after the victory, the arena erupted in chants of "Tara! Tara!" before some of the players dumped a Gatorade cooler filled with gold confetti on her head.
She said the game was “so exciting” and called out Oregon State’s class on the court — noting that all of the players congratulated her after the game, a reflection of coach Scott Rueck and his program, VanDerveer said.
“It’s really special to win the game and have you all here and celebrate,” VanDerveer said.
VanDerveer's Stanford record is 1,051-216 and counting. Before all of this, though, she was 110-37 in five seasons at Ohio State and 42-14 in two years at Idaho.
VanDerveer led Stanford to national titles in 1990, 1992, and 2021, and she has tutored a host of WNBA first-round picks, such as Candice Wiggins, Nicole Powell, Jennifer Azzi, and Appel, and overall No. 1 selections Chiney Ogwumike and Nneka Ogwumike.
This is a crazy achievement, and I’ve been counting for weeks now, waiting for this to happen! Hope they all enjoy and celebrate this as much as they can!
Conclusion
Here’s to another edition in the books of Sports Square! Make sure to share this newsletter with all your friends, and I’ll see ya tomorrow.
Also, I’m going to post a sports quote right below the conclusion of every edition from now on! Here’s #1!
Lions can win it all actually, if they play well against Baltimore, if it is KC, the Lions have the edge to win. And it can be deja vu from the Regular Season opener and the Lions win the exact way the Lions beat KC in Week 1.
