The NFL season has been nothing short of crazy. Ridiculous. Utter stupidity.
You’ve got guys going everywhere. Stupidity in Minnesota and San Francisco. Don’t forget about some “moments” in Tennessee and a conundrum in New York. Both teams.
Aah, but let’s focus on New York for a second.
Bye-bye, Danny Dimes. You don’t throw dimes on the field, but you sure will throw dimes up on your couch, sitting and waiting until a team picks you up. Daniel Jones was always destined to be a Raider, and he sure will be, especially after the Minshew injury.
No one was angry or frustrated at him (other than Giants fans). He just turned out to be a laughter, every single week. Watching Daniel Jones play, took away so much stress from so many people.
Looking at CPOE+EPA from 2018-2024, Daniel Jones was the 50th-best QB. EPA/Play was the same, and CPOE gave him a slight advantage, bringing him up 4 spots. His success rate brought him one sport down. You can check the complete table below.
It wasn’t that he was bad at the game. Yeah, he had a QBR of 53.0 since 2019, but that wasn’t the worst in the NFL. It was his stupid decision-making that screwed it all.
It almost felt like Jones was trying too hard. During summer camp, Jones began underthrowing many deep balls and admitted later that he was overthrowing the football in an effort to self-correct himself and his mistakes.
Coming back to decision-making, let’s go right to the Panthers vs Giants game in Munich. Brian Daboll, the New York Giants HC, called for a flea-flicker on a third-and-1. Two receivers were wide open, but Jones couldn’t throw the football.
But, you know what the ugliest thing about the play was? After the game, when the players were in the locker room, everyone and I mean everyone was watching that play over and over again. After that open play, Brian Daboll dabbed up Wandale Robinson. Brian and Daniel hate each other.
It isn’t really a goodbye to Daniel Jones, especially with the info about Gardner Minshew’s injury. To tell you the truth, many teams are interested in picking him up. It's a goodbye to Danny Dimes.
Goodbye Texans.
This team is the most overrated, big time. You’ve said time and time again
. C.J. Stroud is just not all that. In C.J. Stroud’s past 6 games, the Texans are 2-4 and he has 1,298 Passing Yards, with 4 touchdowns and 5 interceptions. He has a completion percentage of 56.3%. His QBR is 73.01. But, most importantly, he’s been sacked 23 times.Another concern? The Texans can’t score in the 2nd half. In fact, out of the 12 games they’ve played, it’s the 7th time that the Texans didn’t score in that time period. Plus, out of all your divisional opponents, you lose to the Tenessee Titans.
The Texans are set to win the AFC South, and this is the most obvious thing that could happen. You have the Jaguars (the worst team in the NFL), the Titans (the team that should be the worst team in the NFL), and the Colts (who have a losing record and are building a super team). But, that’s not what you want to do in the NFL. You’re competing for the Vince Lombardi trophy. The Texans are going to get 1st rounded. They will play a good team in the first round. These CJ Stroud splits, won’t cut it in the playoffs.
vs. sub .500 opponents (8 games): 173-for-273 (63%), 2,011 yards, 11 TD, 4 INT — 92.91 passer rating
vs. over .500 opponents (4 games) 77-for-123 (62%), 864 yards, 3 TD, 5 INT — 74.71 passer rating
DANG Saquon.
But, I’m not going to say that the New York Giants lost a stud because the best thing for Barkley’s career was for him to be a Philadelphia Eagle. This is a player who deserves a W. 255 yards! Are you kidding me? Fantasy managers must be going crazy.
In other news:
Don’t look now, but the Eagles have won 7 straight games after losing to the Bucs. The Lions have won 9 straight games after losing to the Bucs… The Giants have lost to the Bucs. Do we see the 2-9 Giants, get to 8-9?
Nabers has said that the Giants are playing “soft as f—k”. He also said that the QB switch/situation isn’t the problem because it’s the same thing every week.
Kraft has been left out of the HOF voting, again. Get this guy in please. They didn’t even with the Super Bowl during the Spygate scandal.
The 49ers are out of the playoffs for sure. They’re 5-6, and last in the division. The Super Bowl hangover really is yanking on them.
Jim Harbaugh just can’t find a way to win against his brother John Harbaugh. I do think that the Chargers will be able to get revenge against the Ravens in the playoffs, though.
Lamar on Monday Night Football in his career: 7-2 record, 22 touchdown passes, 0 INTs
Daniel Jones has cleared waivers.
Demarcus Robinson has been arrested on suspicion of DUI.
Gardner Minshew has broken his collarbone.
And that’s it for this one. Sorry for the delay in posts, and I’ll have more coming soon! Meanwhile, if you’ve bookmarked sportssquare.substack.com, go ahead and edit it to sportssquarenews.com, which will be the main Sports Square site from now on.
The mailbag is coming soon. I’m about half done, and I’ll have a bit of time to work on it today. Plus, some cricket content is on the way, especially after the Border-Gavaskar trophy’s first test was completed and a 13-year-old being paid more than some veteran players in the IPL auction.
