Intro:
Let’s continue previewing the best players under 25 years old. This time we’re heading to the NFC North.
NFC North:
Chicago Bears:
Caleb Williams. He has so much to prove to Bears nation especially after they parted ways with Justin Fields (not that he was any good). The Bears have been in a dire quarterback situation for a long time now, so everyone associated is praying for Williams to settle this long dispute between Bears quarterbacks and the Bears.
He is just a rookie, but I’m expecting a big season out of him. Think about the receivers he has. D.J. Moore and Rome Odunze are his WR1 and WR2. So many teams in the NFL would pay a lot of money to get those 2 receivers. They’re that good.
Detroit Lions:
The Lions dominated Pro Football Focus’s top players under 25 list. All of them are people you know. Sam LaPorta, Amon Ra St. Brown, Jahmyr Gibbs, Aidan Hutchinson, and Penei Sewell are the best players on the Lions under 25 years old.
I can’t differentiate them into 1. 2. 3. 4. 5 because they’re all so good. But, after reading many sources, Penei Sewell leads them as he was ranked #1 in almost every article I read. Let’s talk about him.
He’s 23 and earned his first all-pro nod leading Detroit's offense to top-five finishes in total offense, scoring, rushing, and passing. Last season, he only allowed one sack and 6 QB hits. That’s probably why Detroit finished with the 4th best sack rate.
Green Bay Packers:
That’s the amount of players the Packers have that are under 25. We aren’t even counting Jordan Love who’s 25. In fact, the Packers only have one player that’s over 30 and that’s Preston Smith.
We aren’t talking about the most interesting player (I guess that would go to Romeo Doubs. On a side note,
wrote a piece about Romeo Doubs. You can check it out.)Back to Love. In his first season as a starting QB, he killed it with 4,159 (7th in the league) passing yards, 32 TDs (2nd in the league), and finished 7th in yards per game. That’s an amazing season for his first time as a starting QB in Week 1.
There are many amazing choices, but, Jordan Love is the most important.
Minnesota Vikings:
At exactly 25 years old, Justin Jefferson is the person who’s going to receive this award representing the Minnesota Vikings.
He’s regarded as the best wide receiver in the NFL, and he puts up numbers exactly like it. He’s not had a sub-1000-yard season in his 4-year career and was on track for a 2000-yard season in 2022 (he finished with 1809).
Injuries have riddled him, but if that doesn't happen, then we could be looking at historic seasons in every form, every year.
Conclusion:
The next part is coming soon! Thanks for reading!
