Intro:
With the NFL season just around the corner, I decided to begin a series. We’re going to be looking at the best player on each team who’s under 25, then we’re going to be looking at the best player over 30, purposely skipping the 5 years in the middle as it’s most players’ prime.
Well? What are we waiting for? Let’s begin!
NOTE: Few extra grammar mistakes in today’s edition folks.
NFC East:
Philadelphia Eagles:
Starting with the Eagles.
Ranked 100th in ESPN’s latest Top 100 football players ranking, Jalen Carter is 23 years old and is an absolute stud. He was drafted with the 9th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Everyone knew he was going to be good. No one knew he was going to be amazing in just a year. He had 33 tackles, 6 sacks, and 42 yards, and 1 kick blocked. While that’s not the best rookie season ever, that’s pretty amazing.
On the Pat McAfee Show the other day, they talked about how Carter is as good as Chris Jones. For a guy who was just drafted a year ago, to already be compared to some of the most elite defensive players is an accomplishment. Fact or fiction? Fact. While the stats don’t show it all, Carter put a lot of hustle into every snap.
New York Giants:
The Giants are a bad team this season. This is incredibly obvious. But, they do have a lot of guys under 25 that are actually good.
Kayvon Thibodeaux is a linebacker and finished with 11.5 sacks last season. 11.5. 11.5 put him at 12th place. Suddenly, Jalen Carter’s 6 doesn’t feel like anything. He also finished 2023 with 93 yards which put him in prime position for 11th place in the entire NFL. One more thing to point out? In 2023, he had 12 tackles for loss. He’s one of those guys that don’t get talked about a lot even though he puts up amazing numbers.
Washington Commanders:
Jayden Daniels.
As an Eagles fan, it’s tough for me to admit this, but the Commanders have an outstanding team (article coming soon). They have tons of young talent who can all become big shots soon. The biggest out of all these guys and the person who’s supposed to become better than all of these prospects is Jayden Daniels. The Commanders future relies on this guy. They wouldn't pick him at 2 if this wasn’t supposed to happen. Neither would they give him $9.5 million a year.
I can’t say much about him yet. Preseason action isn’t even close to being compared with the regular season, but I know that if Jayden fails, the Commanders season fails, making him the most important player.
Dallas Cowboys:
This team relies on two amazing players under 25. Tyler Smith and Daron Bland.
I’m going to go Bland here, only because he’s an all-pro CB. Now he’s going to be missing the first 4 games as he was put on the IR. He had 5 TD last season and caught 9 interceptions. He also had 69 tackles and 53 of those were solos. His 9 interceptions were 1st place in the entire NFL. He had 15 passes defended which was tied 7th in the league. What a step up from Pick 167 in the 2022 NFL Draft. Wow.
Conclusion:
The best team in this batch?: New York Giants. They’re better positioned with Under 25-year-old prospects.
Thank you for reading and I’ll see you next time.
